Honda opens new operations in India
Tapukara, India - Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI) has inaugurated the first phase of operations at its second plant in Rajasthan, India. The new plant will integrate HSCI into Honda’s pan-Asia supply chain network and will export certain engine components to Asian countries. HSCI manufactures premium cars for the Indian market.
The inauguration of the operations included unveiling a new press facility and an advanced powertrain unit for engine components. The two will supply body panels and engine components to HSCI’s plant in Greater Noida.
Honda will launch the Jazz, known in Canada as the Fit, in 2009, advancing the original launch date following enthusiastic response when it was shown at the Auto Expo in New Delhi this year. The company will also set up a research and development function in India to focus on market and environmental research, and to develop local components and materials more suited to Indian conditions.

The new and enhanced facility is in line with Honda’s latest global plants, with great emphasis on environmental protection and safety.”
